Nobel Prize award ceremonies

The new Nobel Prize laureates take centre stage on 10 December – the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death. During the award ceremonies, they receive their Nobel Prizes and attend the Nobel Prize banquet.

10 December is the culmination of a week of celebration of the Nobel Prize laureates, including the Nobel Prize lectures and other events. Many of these will be live-streamed on nobelprize.org, where you can also find interviews, photos and more. Follow our social media channels, Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, Linkedin and Threads, for more highlights.

Nobel Week begins on 6 December. See the programme

Gems from the archive

Since 1901, Nobel Prize laureates have arrived from all over the world to receive their prizes at the award ceremonies in Stockholm and Oslo.

This year marks the centenary of Werner Heisenberg’s theory of quantum mechanics, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics 1932.

During Nobel Week, the laureates give their official lectures, which describe the history and background of their prize-awarded work – and provide an opportunity to share their message to the world.

The 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi's vision is to put an end to child labour. His Nobel Prize lecture was a distinct call for action: “Today it is time for every child to have the right to life.”

According to 2018 chemistry laureate Frances Arnold, one of the most pressing challenges for science is the loss of free movement of ideas and people.

On 9 December, she takes part in this year’s Nobel Week Dialogue: Health For All, together with laureates Emmanuelle Charpentier, Paul Nurse and Jean Tirole, innovators and policymakers.

The event will bring up questions including the future of drug discovery and the rise of antimicrobial resistance. More information and live stream
