The LOESS Soil Atlas: A toolbox for soil education across Europe
Healthy soils are essential for food production, clean water, biodiversity and climate regulation, yet they are under increasing pressure across Europe. Developed by the EU LOESS project, the Soil Atlas brings together a wide range of educational resources – from lesson plans and a multilingual glossary to an AR app and online courses – supporting soil literacy across schools, universities and communities. New resource showcasing collaboration between research, art and society
The Rock Your Research Map, developed through the Erasmus+ Rock Your Research project, showcases examples from across Europe where researchers, artists and citizens collaborate to address societal challenges. Alongside the map, “Rock it Cafés” create spaces for dialogue and co-creation, highlighting new approaches to participatory engagement and knowledge valorisation. Read more.

Blog: strengthening citizen science in Sweden
In a blog post, Public & Science Sweden’s Lotta Waesterberg Tomasson reflects on her role as ECS Citizen Science Ambassador, highlighting Sweden’s strong tradition of volunteer-based environmental monitoring and the need to better recognise and develop citizen science. New efforts to build a national community aim to strengthen collaboration between researchers, authorities and citizens in Sweden and across Europe. Read more.

Using citizen science to increase knowledge about mental health
In an interview with Public & Science Sweden’s Kjell Bolmgren, he explains how the EU RE-MEND project explores how citizen science can contribute to mental health research. By involving citizens through narratives and dialogue, the project highlights the value of lived experience in generating new knowledge and strengthening trust in science. Read more.

New project: citizen science meets geology in Geonauts
Innovative 3D technology, geology and gamification come together in the Geonauts project, where Public & Science Sweden is a partner. The project uses citizen science to help analyse drill core data, aiming to generate new knowledge while increasing interest in geology and supporting more efficient and sustainable use of mineral resources. New European platform connects science communicators
The European Competence Centre for Science Communication platform, developed through the EU COALESCE project, has launched as a new space for collaboration across Europe. Bringing together communicators, researchers and organisations, it offers tools to connect, find partners and access resources – helping strengthen science communication capacity and community-building across the continent. New project: Lupin Lab tackles invasive species in Sweden
Lupin Lab is a new citizen science initiative bringing together researchers from Umeå University, Karlstad University and Public & Science Sweden to collect both scientific and local knowledge on managing garden lupine. By gathering experiences from citizens, the project explores how combining different types of knowledge can support more effective and sustainable approaches to invasive species. Read more.

Citizen engagement in Europe: INSPIRING ERA event highlights
Participants from over 30 countries joined an INSPIRING ERA online event on 27 January to explore how citizen engagement and citizen science can strengthen trust, inclusion and democratic participation in research. The event shared practical examples and lessons from across Europe on embedding meaningful public engagement in research and innovation. Read more.

Public involvement in research: insights from PPI workshops
A workshop series led by Public & Science Sweden at Karolinska Institute explored how Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) can be integrated into health research. With strong interest from researchers and growing expectations from funders, the workshops highlighted a need for practical guidance, peer learning and support for implementing co-creation in practice.
