All through September, Swedish design is taking over the Institut Suédois in Paris, inside and out! Under the umbrella of Swedish Design Movement, over thirty companies, designers, architects and fashion designers come together in a joint manifestation showing how design is key in the transformation to a sustainable society.

The design month kicked off in connection with Paris Design Week during the first weeks of September. The programme then puts the spotlight on wood architecture and sustainable city planning, to then focus on the fashion scene when Paris Fashion week wraps up the design relay at the end of the month.

The Swedish design association Svensk Form and IKEA Museum have teamed up to create an exhibition showing a selection of works from Ung Svensk Form (Young Swedish Design) from the years 2004 to 2020. The exhibition “Sustain Able Voices” taps into young and upcoming designers’ visions and ideas with sustainability at the core. Sustain Able Voices is now on tour both in Sweden and abroad. The international “tour” is carried out in collaboration with the Swedish Institute and Swedish foreign missions with local partners, and the exhibition is produced locally on demand. Before the summer, the exhibition was on show at the Romainan Design Week in Bukarest and at MEGA in St Petersburg.

The first stop of the autumn was the design festival 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen September 16-18. In October, the exhibition will move to the southern hemisphere where it will pop up at the Kinshasa Design Festival in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
