The Sustain Able Voices exhibition on tour
Svensk Form and IKEA Museum are teaming up and have created an exhibition showing a selection of works from the annual design award Ung Svensk Form (Young Swedish Design) from the years 2004 to 2020. Sustain Able Voices taps into young and upcoming designers’ visions and ideas with sustainability at the core. The exhibition is built around photographs of the selected works and presents a selection of interviews with the designers behind the objects.

Sustain Able Voices is now on tour both in Sweden and abroad. The international tour is conducted in collaboration with the Swedish Institute. The exhibition was recently on display in Bucharest during Romanian Design Week and will be shown in St Petersburg during summer. The next stop is 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen on September 16-18.

The fashion month of August
In August, when the school holidays and vacations are over, but the Swedish summer is still in full bloom, the fashion world will again turn its eyes towards Stockholm. During two intense weeks, several major fashion events will be taking place, both digitally and physically. First out is Fashion Week Trade (August 16-21) in Stockholm Fashion District – an important meeting place for fashion business. All showrooms will be open on site in Nacka Strand, and a full digital program is in the making. The trade week is followed by Stockholm Fashion Week (August 31 – September 2), the runway week that has been showcasing Swedish brands and making Stockholm a fashion capitol since 2005.

More fashion news coming up in the August version of Swedish Design Movement newsletter!

Europes innovative edge for sustainable fashion and design
With the programme Europes innovative edge for sustainable fashion and design, the Västra Götaland region wants to position itself as the global hotspot for reshaping the textile industry. The ambition is a future industry, where textile materials and technology are not only transformed into circular and sustainable practice, but also spread into new applications and industries, often in combination with other emerging technologies. The cities of Gothenburg and Borås, with the Swedish school of textiles, have strong positions a textile excellence center for talent development and research and development. These development programmes will be a joint effort between the region, its industry, academy and civil society.
